Maggie the Bear Jewelry Care
All of my jewelry is handmade and requires care. Please keep in mind that you are purchasing art and it should be treated as such. If you are going to participate in rigorous activity, make sure to remove your jewelry.
To ensure the longevity of your jewelry collection, be sure to avoid contact with water while wearing it. Be sure to remove your pieces before hand washing, swimming and showering. Avoid wearing it in a hot spring, as the silver will turn black. Do not wear your jewelry in the ocean as it will tarnish significantly from saltwater.
When not wearing your jewelry, store your pieces in a dry place, away from any source of moisture. Do not store your jewelry in the bathroom, especially when taking a shower. Sterling silver tarnishes when it is exposed to humidity, which creates a yellow or dull effect.
If your jewelry does tarnish, I recommend polishing your pieces with either of these cloths:
Tarnishing happens but severe tarnishing can be avoided. If you experience tarnishing, gently rub your polishing cloth onto the surface of your silver until you no longer notice it. Do not put your polishing cloth in the washing machine or it will lose its efficacy.
The natural oils of your skin will create a patina to your jewelry that is normal. If you do not like the way the patina looks, be sure to polish your jewelry regularly.
Thank you so much for supporting my jewelry practice! I am so grateful for your support. I hope you love your new pieces and that they last forever.
